Our 270 freestanding awning was rigorously wind-tested in real-world Melbourne conditions. Through open-air trials, we determined its freestanding rating of 30 km/h and pegged rating of 60 km/h. Our tests compared BOM forecast data with actual onsite wind measurements to ensure reliable, real-world results.

Whether your tailgate will clear the awning depends on your roof rack height and how high your tailgate opens. As a rule, you’re good to install if:
A=Roof rack height above the vehicle
B=Tailgate open height
B < A + 2.5 cm

How to pack away my awning？
When you roll the awning back, push each hinged arm toward the housing so the fabric and zipper stay aligned — this prevents the canvas from bunching and makes the zipper easy to close.
Tip: do one arm at a time and don’t force the zipper; realign and try again.

Loving it very much
Very neat, easy to use and has great coverage. The lights make it so easy. Would just like a little more run off angle in those wet periods.

For the price the build quality is amazing. This is my first ever 270 awning so it's definitely set the bar pretty high for me... Love the built in lights, poles and ease of use. Only downfall for me was I had to cut some of the bolts and fixings to suit my roof-rack slots but otherwise no issue got it done!
Sorry, it’s taken a while for the review…. Been busy, the moment I received it I wacked it on and off l went Ha. TBH, for price and my first ever 270 degree awning I’m shocked. The LED lights are a bonus. Quality and installation is so simple & great… Just abit harder if you’ve got a 2.4m high car. Overall if l could give it 5 stars I would. 10/10 rating l will. Price, delivery, budget and quality is exceptional you can’t complain or go wrong with the extra room. The price… It was very good including shipping. l didn’t really look at other brands or competitors. I was more drawn to the black to match my car and RTT, led lights and how everyone who purchased it was happy. I went with the XL awning and would recommend it to anyone that is looking at an awning. Don’t get the standalone one get the 270 because Bigger is always better!

Absolutely love my open road 270 awning. Just returned home from Cape York and I’m soo glad we had it. It’s soo quick and easy to set up and pack up, survived the corrugated roads and the Old Telegraph track and didn’t even have one bolt come loose. When I was doing my research into awnings the customer service from Mark was amazing. He was very helpful in deciding what will work best for my 200 series and offered guidance regarding alternative brackets to suit the roof platform I have. To be honest, I went with Open road because of the amazing customer service from Mark and I’m very happy I did.

Awning looks great. Awning brackets were to short for the pioneer 6 platform. So I had to make up extra base plates.
Had the open road 270 for six months now and have used it on both my patrols For the cost and the quality and what features I think it’s one of the best value awnings on the market I’m going to do a basic review video on my YouTube channel soon I am also keen on the rooftop tent

Pretty easy install, took two hours for a 71 year old on his own. I've had the old girl for 26 years she now looks the part with a flash 270 awning. I love the simplicity of setting up and packing away.

Openroad 270° Awning An Absolute Game-Changer I cannot recommend this 270° awning enough! If you spend a lot of time off-grid, this is easily one of the most useful pieces of gear you can add to your rig. The biggest selling point for me is how incredibly fast it is to set up. When I pull up to a spot, the last thing I want to do is fight with poles and guy ropes. This awning deploys in seconds, giving me massive, instant coverage over both the side and rear of the vehicle. It has proven to be extremely handy for everyday camp life. Whether I'm firing up the BBQ, pulling out the espresso maker in the morning, or just needing quick, solid shelter from unpredictable weather out in the Blue Mountains, it handles it all perfectly. It creates a huge, covered base area that ties in seamlessly with my roof top tent and LED lighting. If you're on the fence about getting one, just do it. The sheer speed of the setup and how incredibly practical it is makes camp life so much easier. Highly recommended!

Unreal awning, sturdy, sleek and so easy to set up. 30 second set up and just as quick of a pack up, Inbuilt lights are awesome, material is nice with a great water run off system. Would honestly recommend to someone looking for their first awning, especially a free standing.
Fitted my awning , and that weekend I was off to Blackbutt camping... Have to say , looked at a few 270's was a toss up with bushwacca and open road, and open road won and the $$$ was bloody fair and reasonable.... I'll be back for more products soon...

Perfect for long beach days. Set up by one person is a breeze. Pack. Sometimes I have to jiggle the main hinge a bit when packing up to get it flat. There must be a knack to this that I’m not quite getting
