OPENROAD 270 Awning Wind Testing
Our 270 freestanding awning was rigorously wind-tested in real-world Melbourne conditions. Through open-air trials, we determined its freestanding rating of 30 km/h and pegged rating of 60 km/h. Our tests compared BOM forecast data with actual onsite wind measurements to ensure reliable, real-world results.

Click it in and your awning stops being a puddle tray—it becomes a roof. This compact support lifts the canopy to create a positive drainage fall that channels rain to the edge and off in seconds, so there’s no pooling, no sag and less flap when it’s bucketing down. Your camp stays drier, the fabric and arms take less strain, and pack-up is cleaner with no surprise tip-outs.

Whether your tailgate will clear the awning depends on your roof rack height and how high your tailgate opens. As a rule, you’re good to install if:
A=Roof rack height above the vehicle
B=Tailgate open height
B < A + 2.5 cm

How to pack away my awning？
When you roll the awning back, push each hinged arm toward the housing so the fabric and zipper stay aligned — this prevents the canvas from bunching and makes the zipper easy to close.
Tip: do one arm at a time and don’t force the zipper; realign and try again.
